With some tweaking it performs very well. A little lube on the column make the depth gauge far more sensitive. With a bit of practice and careful adjusting it works great. Cleaned up several chisels and 15" planer blades. It will pay for itself quickly.

A good investment

I have used this machine to sharpen chisels, planer and jointer blades with more than satisfactory results. Albeit the planer jig seems to have been designed for wider planer blades, used with a simple home-made adaptor for the 3/8 in wide planer blades, will yield improved handling and a uniform bevel across the entire length of a 13 in planer blade.
Properly aligned with a well dressed stone and practising one's technique will yield good results at an economical cost and, by being able to re-sharpen upon demand, minimizes any delay in project completion.
Compared to the many high quality and expensive sharpening systems available today, this machine offers a good compromise design making it affordable--especially for the home woodworker-- to re-sharpen such blades with confidence and economy,

use it to sharpen jointer knives mainly and has paid for itself already versus paying soemone to sharper for me

It does not sharpen planer and jointer knives vety well. They do not come out straight. The up down adjustmeny leaves a lot to be desired. You pay for a cheap sharpener and that is what you get,
