1/4 hp feeder showed its strength.
Last fall when building a garage door out of hemlock and pine, I goofed and cut the overlapping rabbets (which should allow the sections to fit neatly under the surface hinges) at inconsistent depths. Senior moment, I guess. This week I resolved to fix the problem, so I took the door apart and realized that some of the rabbets were 1/4" and some were 3/8" (across the 1 3/4" thick edges of the five door panels). The heaviest of the five panels weighs 50 pounds, the lightest 44. I set up the shaper, ran a test piece, and in twenty minutes, redid the eight rabbets on the nine-foot panels. The power feeder treated the assemblies as just another board. The new garage door went together quite nicely this morning, thanks to my trusty shaper/feeder.

It has been a perfect fit for my shaper.
About twenty years ago I bought one of these for the Poitras (General) 3/4" shaper I used to make flooring, doors, windows, cove siding and cabinets for the renovation of the 1837 stone cottage which became our home. When tongue and grooving, it will take a 12', 12" red oak board at one end and give it back at the other, when properly adjusted. I also have made whatever 3 1/2" crown moulding I needed out of red oak and pine. Another set of mouldings allow me to make panelled garage doors out of hemlock and walnut. Don't believe the comments on the Internet that a 1/4 hp power feeder is inadequate. Properly installed and set up, this model will do a steady job over many thousands of feet of hardwood.
