9" Woodworking Band Saw with Laser - Craftex CX-Series

This bench top unit may be small, but packs a lot of features that other 9" band saws simply don't match up to. The CX123 features a powerful 1/3 HP motor, is equipped with a high quality fence and has a heavy duty solid feel to it, despite its compact size. Sturdy metal top and bottom doors, solid work table, this machine is built well overall for a bench top unit. Our new laser guidance system helps to identify the cutting path on material when performing any cutting operations. Cut up to 3 ½"material in height with enough power to cut through just about any wood. This 9" bench top model band saw is light enough to move around in the shop with ease weighing in at 42lbs. The unit also features ball bearing guides for quick set up and tension system for ease of use. The precision balanced cast aluminum wheels and ON/OFF switch with safety key make this band saw a great addition to your shop.

Like all CX-Series machines, this unit features powder coated paint, sharp looking two tone colours and a full 3 year warranty.

    9” bandsaw with laser

Posted by Rick on 15th Mar 2021

Shipment was delayed due to Covid understandable, however when the unit was received I put batteries in the laser and it didn’t work I called service at busy bee and requested a replacement laser unit (held on with 2 screws) I gave them my purchase order number and all the information they needed and they told me they would get back to me and I never heard from them again. Buyer beware

    Money's worth

When my old bandsaw finally died, I struggled to decide with what to replace it with. And funny enough, the old bandsaw I had had was also a BusyBee product. An old B324 that I found at a garage sale 8+ years ago. I've watched dozens of YouTube videos of bandsaw reviews and read numerous reviews and blogs on different brands. And I think they only served to highlight that it all comes down to user preference and work requirements. I am not a professional woodworker, and my woodworking is for fun and household projects, so I do not need a high-end machine. And I was leaning towards the "Canadian Tire" brand in part because I am cost-sensitive and was at a point where I just needed a replacement to finish projects I was working on. But the reviews of the "CT" bandsaw had me unsure. And I could find very few reviews on this CX123. In the end, I am very happy with this bandsaw and very glad I decided to purchase it. It feels well built, runs smooth, and much quieter than my previous bandsaw. I feel like I've gotten my money's worth. I love the gooseneck light and dust air blower. The handle is a plus and while I did notice someone else comment indicating that they didn't like the laser I find it helps me, and I have mine dialed-in perfectly. I do agree with the other reviewer about the fence. And would prefer to see an improved fence. But overall I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this bandsaw.

Was easy to adjust and works fine for small projects. The table and fence could be more sturdy.

    Solid little bandsaw

Posted by Michael on 31st Dec 2020

This is a great little bandsaw. Overall build quality is excellent and the package is polished with all parts fitting together well. It has all the necessary adjustments to setup correctly and while some of the key components are plastic (e.g. parts of the guide wheel mechanism) they work as expected and should last with a little care and attention. The saw offers plenty of power and the motor is quite and smooth, for a small saw its well powered. Of the unique extras I really appreciate the top handle and the dust blower. The laser on the other hand is all but useless I’d much rather they take the cost of including that component and change a couple of the things I’m not super happy about. These would be the table and fence. The table is a stamped steel affair and while it is adequate for smaller pieces running longer lumber through will require extra in feed and out feed support to prevent twisting the table and negatively affecting cut quality a cast magnesium one would be a welcome addition (or even adding some additional folds to the steel one) and keep it light. The second area I’d like to see improved is the fence., again for small pieces (very small) the fence is fine but as it lacks a rear attachment point and the primary attachment point is primarily plastic it will twist fairly easily. I will be adding a rear guide rail to the fence to add this second attachment point and looking at ways to stiffen the table up. Overall if you are looking at competitor saws like the Wen or Ryobi. I’d put this one somewhere in the middle it lacks the sturdier table of the Wen but offers a fence (even with its weaknesses) and a blower which is surprisingly useful, compared to the Ryobi the CX123 is also much more powerful.

    Bench top bandsaw

Amazing power for the size and price! I’ve been cutting 2” thick ash into canoe paddle blanks with no problems. Far better than any of the big box bench top options.
