I spent a good while, searching for my "final" saw. I kept debating between buying brand new, or a waiting for the right used Unisaw to show up. In the end it was my wife that encouraged me to purchase the CX201 (probably so I would stop talking about saws). Boy am I glad she did. The saw really is everything that I hoped it would be. Plenty of power, and very accurate. The fence glides very easily and locks down tight and true. I have been cutting maple, cherry and sheet goods on it. The added extension table really comes in handy with the plywoods.
I highly recommend this saw. 5/5 from me!
Here's the thing. You can buy the Grizzly G0691 (which comes with a one year warranty), or you can buy the ShopFox W1820 (which comes with a two year warranty), or you can buy the Craftex CX201 (which comes with a three year warranty). All are the identical saw except for the mitre gauge extension on the ShopFox. These saws come off of a production line in China. Don't let that deter you. It's a great saw.
I removed the table to decrease the weight to get it into the basement. Had to realign the mitre slot with the saw blade; this was not difficult. The remaining components all went together easily. Everything lined up wonderfully.
It passed the "nickel test" without difficulty.
These is an excellent saw that produces rips parallel to within a few hundreds of a millimetre and mitre cuts that are square if you have the tools and take your time putting it together and lining everything up.
I strongly recommend this saw.
I bought this saw about 1 month ago. I was upgrading from a bosch contractor saw and wanted to buy something that could be my final saw. I looked pretty closely at the following machines.
Uni-Saw 36-L352 - best price I found was $3199
General Int 650R - best price i found was $2899
King KC-26FXT - which looks the same and best price was $1799
Grizzly G6091- which also looks the same and their price is $1395
Laguna - again looks the same $1999
The CX201 from BB was $1399 and had a 3 year warranty. I was tempted by the uni-saw to be honest, but couldnt justify the price difference, neither could the wife. I looked at the Genreal, Laguna and King in person and the Laguna and Kind seem to be identical to the CX SEries, so I assume they are coming out of the same factory.
So far, Im pretty happy with my purchase. It came out of the package without any issues and set up was straight forward. There are a couple of errors in the manual which I have pointed out to BB, so lets see if they fix it.
Overall though, its a solid piece of machinery and I am glad I bought it and didnt over pay for other brand names. I would recommned the saw to someone in the market.
got this at the price drop price, so this was a very good deal. not sure what i can say bad about it but i never give anything 5 stars! :)
this is a sweet table saw at this price. accurate, heavy duty motor (leeson to boot!) and the extension table is a great bonus. this is not a no frills saw, really like the chrome knobs and handwheels, what my wife calls the "gold plated" riving knife and its virtually vibration free.
This saw was bang on from the first cut. The fence is excellent quality and this is a great addition to my shop. Set up was easy and purrs like a kitten! Passes the nickel test!
