What I expected. No surprises.
I have a good bunch of old chisels which are of about the same quality as the Marples. They were long neglected from a time when I knew nothing about how to sharpen or care for them. I bought this Marple and a 5/8 to fill in what was missing from my collection. I got no surprises. Both needed to be sharpened, but first they needed to have the backs flattened. I've started this process but it's not yet complete. I have gotten rid of the cupping near the cutting edge which will do for now until I can get some better abrasives for the flattening. I fully expected this but the price was attractive and once they are fully tuned up will last me for the rest of my days
