    Fair but there were issues

Posted by Paul Roberts on 8th Jan 2019

This stand came sturdily packed, but upon opening a couple problems were discovered. First, there were no instructions at all, just bits in a box. Second, it was missing several fasteners, three sets of nut/screw/washer combos. I had to dig into my store of fasteners to get it together. Assembly without instructions wasn't too much of a problem, but it tool a bit of messing around to establish which bits went where because there isn't even a picture of the finished item on the box as a guide. Once it was together it was sturdy enough. As a hint, don't tighten the bolts up as you go. Get them all installed and hand tight then turn the stand upside down on a _flat_ surface. Wiggle the entire thing to make sure that all the surfaces are square to the flat surface and _then_ tighten the screws up. There is so much play on the fastener holes that it is possible to build the stand quite out of square. Also, tightening up the nuts on the carriage bolts is is very possible to strip out the sides of the square holes in the legs that react the tightening torque, thus preventing you from ever tightening further or, worse, loosening, any stripped hole. The assembled height is as advertised, but 24" high really is a bit short for most tools. Just be aware. I'm going to have to build a riser for mine. Overall this is a cheap, but adequate, simple tool stand. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. I'd buy another if I needed one.
