The 43" distance between the centers and the variable speed gives you the flexibility for any project and the solid cant iron bed construction dampens any stock vibration, resulting in greater precision.

    CX803 Lathe

Posted by Florian Kerber on 22nd Dec 2023

I really like this lathe, but it did come with damage of the paint around the screw insert holes for the legs. It had sizable chunks of paint removed from 2 holes with scrapes above as well. Other then that, very stable base and great versatility.

    CX803 Lathe

I've had this lathe for about a month, so far it's seems to be very well built, replaced old Rockwell spindle lathe. love the variable speed. It's heavy and does not vibrate too much at all. Will update as I get more time on it.

    CX803 Wood Lathe

Posted by Johannes Heykoop on 2nd Jan 2022

This is a solid built machine for the price. I like mine a lot. I do a thorough review on my YouTube channel MFCP Woodworking. My only complaint is that the headstock has a slot for the wrenches so you have to use the flimsy wrenches supplied. I'm considering grinding the slots wider so that I can use a real wrench.

WOOD LATHE WITH DIGITAL READOUT CSA CX803

In general, Lathe runs very well. The boltt holding the tool rest requires a double nut. It loosens if you change set-up or locations. Everything else works very well.

Excellent lathe. Works great. Why buy used, get a reliable machine, built sturdy.

So quiet, I wasn't sure it was running! but...

Posted by Frank Bardoul on 27th Jun 2020

I purchased this lathe a few weeks ago. It is definitely a quiet lathe. The centres lined up perfectly. Nearly vibration free. The only problems I see is the handle to tighten the tool rest tends to slip and not tighten enough. Other than that, the quality of the machine is good. If I were to change anything, it would be flipping the motor to the other side of the head-stock. Having the motor where it is, was a hindrance for me. I purchased a universal duplicator from Viel Tools in Quebec (100% Canadian made, which is nice.) It fit, but, The support rail for the duplicator on the head-stock side would barely fit under the motor. And because the duplicator was made for a 10" swing, you had to add a 1" spacer under the support rail, but, because the motor is where it is, you cannot use the spacer. I needed to make an aluminum block with a slot and a drill and tap a hole and place it on the duplicator carriage to accomodate the 14" swing of this lathe. It's all working beautifully now though. Just a little modification that could've been avoided had the motor been flipped to the other end of the head-stock.
