Dust Deputy
The Dust Deputyr is an extremely efficient, cyclonic pre-separator for vacuums. Trap dust in the barrel and NOT in your vacuum. The Dust Deputyr will filter 99% of sanding dust, with only 1% going into the vacuum. Extend the life of your vacuum and your filters!
The Dust Deputyr is molded from translucent, static dissipating plastic. Added to your existing wet/dry vacuum, it uses centrifugal force to literally spin the material being conveyed right out of the air stream, and into the bucket. The tapered inlet and outlet accommodates different sized hoses and couplings without the hassle of hunting for the right size connection.

You'll need to make sure there are zero air leaks where the unit attaches to the bucket lid and between the bucket and the lid as well. I had some minor issues with the latter part (lid made of 1/2 in ply), but once the seal was done right, the shopvac doesn't get ANY dust.
My vac is an el-cheapo $30 thing with the small 1 1/4 hose, and without a crevice tool or some other attachment on the end, it can howl quite a bit. But the bottom like is this thing seriously sucks... which is kinda good, in this case.
You should most certainly consider building a dolly type thing to cart the bucket and shop-vac around in, as the bucket/cyclone assembly will be top heavy unless you drop a 20 pound weight in there. I miss being able to give the hose a good yank to drag the vac around during clean-up, but knowing I'll never have to worry about bags in the vac any more more than makes up for that.
All in all, an excellent product!
