Assistant Store Manager (Barrie)

Busy Bee Tools is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Store Manager to lead our Barrie location. This unique role combines retail management expertise with B2B sales skills to grow our customer base in schools, organizations, and businesses, promoting our comprehensive woodworking and metalworking product lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets and KPIs.
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and technical product assistance.
  • Assist customers with product inquiries, quotes, and special orders.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Oversee daily store operations, including cash handling, inventory control, and merchandising.

  • Assist with company events such as Garage Sales, Tent Sales, and other sales initiatives as required.
  • Support other store locations when needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management from time to time.

Who You Are

We’re seeking a dynamic leader with a passion for woodworking and metalworking, as well as a talent for business development.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of retail or sales experience, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong understanding of retail operations, sales techniques, and inventory management.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on retail environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency (POS systems, Microsoft Office, email).
  • Knowledge or interest in tools, machinery, or hardware is a strong asset.
  • Comfortable using POS systems and other retail software.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Busy Bee Tools is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper to support the Finance team in maintaining accurate, timely, and complete financial records for Busy Bee Tools’ and AgeComfort multi-location retail and e-commerce operations. This position is responsible for assisting with full-cycle accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end support, and inventory-related accounting. The role contributes to financial discipline, operational efficiency, and strong internal controls while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting processes and scalable financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Full‑Cycle Accounting

  • Perform day‑to‑day accounting functions including Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R).
  • Process vendor invoices, match to purchase orders, and ensure timely payments in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare customer invoices, post receipts, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and supporting documentation.

Cash & Bank Reconciliations

  • Complete daily and monthly cash reconciliations across stores and bank accounts.
  • Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support cash‑flow tracking and reporting.

Month‑End & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare month‑end journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Assist with the preparation of month‑end financial packages, schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Support variance analysis and provide explanations as required.
  • Maintain fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules.

Inventory & Costing

  • Assist with inventory costing, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Support cycle counts, inventory reviews, and investigation of variances.
  • Ensure accurate posting of landed costs, freight, and inventory‑related journal entries.

Compliance & Process Support

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation standards.
  • Support audit requests and provide required schedules and backup.
  • Assist in improving accounting processes and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Purchasing, and Store teams to resolve accounting issues.

  • Experience with inventory accounting and costing is a strong asset.
  • Retail, distribution, or multi‑location experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and ERPs (experience with Business Central, Dynamics, or similar systems is an asset).
  • Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations and data analysis.
  • Experience with POS and e‑commerce accounting integrations is an asset
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
