It’s a great sharpener as I am a meat cutter I use it several time a week.would have gave it a 5 star but the water tray is it’s weak point could be wider so the water would go back into the tray when grinding
Some of you may know what a Tormek wet grinder is. A Swedish beauty in the world of sharpening. The Craftex wet grinder is compatible with the Tormek T8. We have the T8 at work so I can give you an honest opinion on the comparison. The T8 is about 4x the price of the BusyBee version. The Tormek has some little niceties you can check out but on the function of sharpening the Craftex does the job almost as good. So i’ll give you the positive first than the negative. Of course the great price, all the Tormek sharpening jigs fit, the 220 grit stone can be profiled to give a 1000 grit cut but you will need the Tormek grading stone. I know because I tried it ;). The honing wheel has less seam ‘bump’ , the carbide truing cutter for the stone is 1/2 the cost (you will want this regardless what machine you buy as the wheels are seldom true out of the box). The Craftex has a geared drive rather than a friction wheel. The bad, no micro adjustment, no magnet to collect the filings in the water tray and it throws a bit more water. In my opinion the Craftex is a truly great value.
