1" belt sander CX510
Used this unit for knife sharpening. The sander worked well, but you need the different grades of belts for getting a sharp edge. I did some fumbling with changing belts, but that should improve with experience. I would like to have an attachment that would hold the knife blade at a specific angle. Now you have to guess what angle your are sanding at, and hold it there while sliding the blade along the belt during the sharpening process.

1IN. BELT SANDER CRAFTEX CX SERIES CSA CX510
Of all the craftex merchandise I have purchased over the years this has to be the worst for assembly and construction. On inspection, I found the motor assembly screws loose and one had fallen out. Also the adjustable tightening knob for the table would not tighten. It was stripped due to poor casting techniques.

Good, but fast
I quite like this grinder. I use it with out the plastic side panel so I can change out belts more easily. So far I have made nine knives on it, and these are a few things I have noticed: It's fast. It runs a bit faster than I'd like, it just generates more heat and it allows you to mess up faster. It's very easy to stall. When grinding scales, or doing profiling, I find I need to be careful not to just stop the belt. I don't have that problem while doing bevels, because I don't push as hard. The platen is short. I glued a piece of Aluminum to it to make it taller. Other than that, it's pretty good. I highly recommend getting it if you are just starting knife making and can't afford a 2x72. Once you can afford a larger grinder, get it. I buy my belts from Combat Abrasives, (all ceramic) 36 grit for profiling, and starting bevels, then 120 grits for refining bevels and removing 36 grit scratches from the spine. Then 220 & 400 grit belts (j flex)

Very good for a $100
This is pretty darn well made for the price. Have used this for smaller jobs around the shop multiple times. Had a minor issue with the belt tracking but was user error, fine since.

Great little sander
I wasnt expecting much for $80, but I am impressed as to what I got for this price. Great little sander at a great 'little' price point. Packaged well and fit and finish were bang on. I would recommend this for any hobbyist or for smaller craft work
