This sander is ideal for sanding small wood pieces but you have to sand very lightly.

Small footprint on the table, but quiet and powerful.

It's okay
It's just okay and here's why: - The good -- It's cheap -- The belt size is standard so belts are quite easily accesible (LeeValley even has some, just not the blue zirc ones - they're crap) -- It has both a belt and disk configuration -- The motor is powerful enough to do most jobs - The bad -- The on/off button is a pain to toggle because of the dust cover -- The tool rests are absolute rubbish. I had to make a better one for the belt sander because the one it comes with is too small and unreliable (it can loosen and fall down). -- The bearings are terrible. After some modest use the rear bearing is already toast. That could be due in part to the next bullet. -- The wheels are plastic and wear out easily. My rear adjustment wheel wore down excessively to the point where the belt was rubbing against the metal frame and the belt tracking could no longer be adjusted. Trying to adjust the tracking put the wheel at an angle which puts additional stress on the bearing. I've since made new wheels out of plywood and used new bearings. -- The platten is very thin and short -- The motor bogs down when you're trying to hog material off

1x30 belt sander
Using it to sharpen knives. Works great.
-
Nice little lightweight sander
Perfect for occasional light use that I need it for

Quiet Belt/Disc Sander
The low noise this sander makes is most likely because of the bearing quality. Good quality bearings equals low noise. The machine set up easily and performed as expected on the belt side. The disc wobbles though and this means that most of the sandpaper surface will never bee used. I will Jane to remove the sandpaper and actually sand the aluminum backing plate to get it true. It will be perfect once I do this. A higher quality machine would not have this problem.

Great sander
I use it for knife sharpening. Works great, lots of belts out there for it.
