The Laguna PX|20 Planer combines a 20-inch cutting capacity with a powerful 5 HP motor and a six-row ShearTec II carbide insert cutterhead. Designed for efficient stock preparation, it delivers a clean shearing cut across a range of wood species, including challenging hardwoods.

The ShearTec II cutterhead uses 138 four-sided carbide inserts arranged across six rows. Each insert can be rotated to expose a fresh cutting edge, eliminating the need for a traditional knife-setting jig. Deep cutterhead grooves help reduce operating noise and improve chip and shaving ejection, while the T-step knife and fastener design increases clamping force to help minimize chatter and insert cracking.

For improved operator access, the controls and Wixey digital readout are positioned on an angled control panel at the top of the machine. Infeed and outfeed rollers help support stock without requiring large fixed extension tables, while four-post bed support promotes consistent thickness settings from cut to cut.

A serrated infeed roller and pressure bar are positioned close to the cutterhead to help reduce snipe. Two feed speeds allow the operator to select 16 or 28 feet per minute, while the reversible 4-inch dust chute can be directed to either side of the machine to better suit the shop’s dust collection layout.
