I tried the one from the local tire store and the motor burned out after 4 uses. After speaking to a few people I discovered Busy Bee and found this lathe. This is one solid piece of equipment. WOW! Day and night difference between this one and the first one I owned. You definitely get what you pay for. I highly recommend it.
This is my first lathe and after plenty of research I purchased this one. It was a great one, everything I hoped for. Don't dilly dally thinking about getting this lathe, just buy it. You won't be disappointed, happy turning everyone!
Have had this lathe for a little over a month now, have used it extensively and it works flawlessly, very easy to switch the belt over for high or low speed, I usually just leave it on the higher speed setting because it can go from 800rpm to 3600rpm using the dial. made bowls, pens, cups and more on it.
Having researched mini lathes available in Canada I couldn't find a better combination of capacity, power and features at this price. One thing that made me hesitate was the fact that the lowest speed was listed as 650 rpm, which is a bit fast for larger, unbalanced pieces. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the current model is rated at 350 rpm. The listed specs are not up to date. Needless to say, I am very pleased with this lathe.
Great small lathe. Very nice machine to use,
