This 13” Bench Top Planer with Helical Style Cutterhead features a powerful 2HP, 120V motor and 6 row helical cutterhead with 26 indexable cutters giving you power and superior finish you would expect from a stationary machine. This machine is slightly larger than our popular CX125HC 12.5” planer and it also has some added features. These additional features include 2 speeds, top mounted feed rollers, larger infeed & outfeed tables and pre-set depth stops for repeat cuts at 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 1-3/4".
Designed to manage larger, deeper cuts in wood, the helical style cutterhead is quieter and delivers a smoother finish compared to straight knife planers which will reduce your sanding time. Complete with built in dust collection with dual ports at 2-1/2" & 4" for easy hook up to a shop vac or dust collector.
The cutterhead raises and lowers on a 4-column precision ground carriage system which drastically reduces snipe. The convenient side carry handles allow for ease of portability and blade changes on this machine are simple and super fast. Chip an insert cutter? Simply unscrew the indexable cutter and rotate to get a fresh new cutting edge. Say goodbye to cumbersome and time-consuming blade changes with traditional straight knife planers.

Craftex CX Series CX13HC
A recent purchase to replace a previous brand as this machine was less expensive than a helical head upgrade for the other machine. This machine offers an exceptional finish and less snipe, both depending on feed speed and material, than experienced prior, and the use of the slow feed speed is, in my opinion, ready for a light sand and paint/stain. Close attention to performance is warranted as it's critical the inserts are sharp. This will greatly reduce strain on both the feed rollers and the cutting head. The inserts provided with the machine are not the best tool steel so an upgrade to carbide soon after purchase would be recommended. For a benchtop unit, this is very good value for money, especially if you can grab one when on sale.

Great quality
Very impressed so far. This produces better results than my older dewalt 13" (dw735). I'd recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade from the standard lunch box planer. You will not be dissapointed. Packaging, overall appearance and manufacturing is excellent. Busy bee hit a homerun on this one!

Great planer, as advertised
Got some good help from the Ottawa store over the phone. Ordered this and it arrived within 3 days. Great packaging, machine itself was impressive out of the box. I've got at least 50 hours on this by now and I can tell you, this is a big upgrade from my previous 12.5" King unch box planer, big upgrade! Highly recommend this to anyone in the market. Hard to beat Busy bee's price!

Great finish
Only had to install the dust chute and turn handle. Fit and finish were great straight out of the box. Feed and exit trays were level. This unit has some good weight for a bench top model! I'll update on performance when I get a chance to send wood through it. Very happy so far.

After using the planer for several weeks I feel like I can give an accurate review. Overall, I love the planer and it works great. The cutter head isn't a true "helical" but it cuts super clean, quieter than straight knives and is accurate. I also love that changing the cutters will be so much easier than straight knife counterparts (haven't had to change them yet). The adjustable depth stop works great, it's very accurate and solid which was a nice surprise. I use it far more often than I thought I would. As well as the cutter depth gauge at the front of the machine is very clear and handy to use. Couple of things I want to note though, the in/outfeed extension tables are not that easy to adjust. I found them very finicky and annoying, I just wish there was maybe a better system for that. Also in regards to the in/outfeed extensions, you have to lift the cutter head all the way up in order to fold up the outfeed side table to save space when not in use. Another note is the dust collection is not great. I have a pretty decent dust collection system in my shop and still I'm getting piles of chips out the front of the machine. Aside from those annoyances, this is a great machine and definitely worth it for the sale price. I might have gone for the 12.5" planer if this one wasn't on sale. That being said, the added features for this model are fantastic, I just don't know if the price difference is justified when compared to the other model. In summary, great machine for a small shop space, I recommend it with an asterisk on those few annoyances.
