Rikon 30-217 drill press
I just received (Jan) my drill press having ordered it in August, not a show stopper but annoying. I chose this model primarily for the variable speed design; however, to jump from the low range to the high range still takes a belt position change which is another annoying fact. When received the spindle gears and spines had so much heavy grease on them there was grease splatter on the inside of the top cover and the return spring would not properly retract the spindle, so I had to clean this up and dig out the grease from the gears to allow the spindle to properly retract, (it still has a rough spot and is not a smooth travel as you would expect it should be). The final item that is really annoying is the wobbly chuck, it does not run true, the tapered arbor runs nearly perfect having checked this with my dial gauge, but the chuck!!!! Really disappointing. So overall the fit and finish of this machine is just average, the casings are a wee bit crude but they all go together well enough with the table alignment to the drill spindle being good enough without additional adjustments. Would I buy this machine again probably not it should be better for the premium price.
